Community Based Activities

Students can be involved in a Royal Life Saving swimming lessons and 'Total Recreation' organised activities. These promote group participation and the learning of safety skills. Older students actively participate in regular shopping outings in order to learn fundamental life skills. Some students may be involved in transport programs where they learn to use public transport. Students may attend library sessions using the Palmerston Library and are involved in accessing the community during relevant excursions.

Access to professional support

Staff have access to professional input from the Children’s Development Team (Physiotherapist, Speech-Language Pathologist and an Occupational Therapist). Other specialists from Student Services Branch such as Guidance Officers, Vision and Hearing Impaired Support Staff and Early Intervention and School Aged specialists can also be accessed.

Physical Set Up

Each class has a designated learning area. All students have access to a fully equipped kitchen and a specifically designed bathroom area. The unit also comprises an office which can be used for parent-teacher meetings and a spacious hall which is utilised for motor sessions and for music and drama sessions. Other facilities include:
